Steve & Chris Davis of La Crosse, WI are a serious bowhunting team all year long. In the spring of the year the gobble of the wild turkey draws the Davis’ all over the United States. Archery turkey hunting for the two has become an addiction. Steve started back into archery in 2000 after being away from it since high school. Waterfowl had to take the back seat to big game and turkeys that are now being chased with a bow. Since 2003 Steve has harvested 28 turkeys with a bow including a successful Grand Slam during the 2008 season. An Osceola (FL), Merriam (NE), Rio (TX), and Eastern (WI) were harvested in just 7 weeks. Chris had no desire to hunt until she married Steve. Now the two spend their hunting time together pursuing what they both enjoy. Chris has harvested numerous turkeys with a bow and the highlight of her archery career so far is the 140”+ whitetail buck she harvested in sub-zero Wisconsin weather in December of 2008 while hunting by herself. Their spring hunts consist of traveling to locations as far as Florida, Texas, Nebraska, Wyoming, South Dakota as well as their home state of Wisconsin. The fall hunts for the pair starts as early as August with archery antelope hunts in Wyoming. The two enjoy the first big game hunt of the year for “speed goats” as a “tune up” for Wisconsin whitetails. Steve’s archery resume is rapidly building and the harvest on the top of it has to be the 200”+ whitetail he shot in 2006…..it was nicknamed the “Urban Myth.” The Davis team has numerous shooting staff positions in the industry and began filming their hunts a few years back. “The Impact” of their videos will be seen as early as this summer……stay tuned.
