The thrill to pursue God’s creatures and chase unmarked territory has been in my blood since the first day I could walk. The untamed wilderness can’t be seen through the lens of a spotting scope on the side of the road; it lies off the beaten path where only those with an unwavering commitment dare to venture. I was lucky enough to be born and raised in Idaho where I have been able to test my limits as an outdoorsmen and seek that ground no one has ever set foot on.
I owe my love and passion for the outdoors to my dad, who has been the greatest role model a son could ask for. He taught me an ethical and sustainable approach to hunting and gave me all the tools I could ever need to be successful. It’s he who I adopted the love of archery hunting through. For me, the pursuit with a bow is undeniably the most exhilarating and rewarding way to take a trophy of any caliber. Chasing elk in the rut is hands-down my favorite time to be in the woods; nothing beats the sound of a bugle cutting through the crisp, cool, fall air. Beyond elk hunting, I enjoy the pursuit of just about every other animal and have recently become addicted to waterfowl hunting. Decoying waterfowl is not only enjoyable, but provides me with some much needed rest after venturing Idaho’s backcountry for the prior 9 months of the year.
The memories and experiences I have gained through hunting and being in the outdoors are some of the most highly treasured moments of my life. As my hunting career continues to evolve, I look forward to the many more memories I will make, and ultimately, the day I can pass my knowledge and experience on to my kids. I can’t wait to see what the rest of this journey has in store for me, and just how far I can venture from the nearest road.
