Shane Collard

Hi, my name is Shane Collard. I was born and raised in the Mimbres Valley of Southwestern New Mexico. I was raised by a family who ranched, farmed and did not believe in sitting in the house or sleeping in! My parents are two of the hardest working people i know. They always made sure me and my brother had what we needed. My dad made it a point to teach us all about hunting and the outdoors as we grew up. The adventure of hunting in the great outdoors is a passion my family continues to share together.

I’m currently married to the love of my life and favorite hunting partner Audra Major. If it was not for her being so supportive of what I do I would not be where I am today. I must give credit where credit is due! My wife and I live in Silver City, New Mexico. I usually work construction in the summer months, along with day work on ranches, then guide hunters from August to March. My wife is a school teacher and coach at Cliff Schools. We hunt every chance we get and hunt together as much as our busy schedules let us. I have worked with Beaverhead Outfitters and Harrington Ranch Outfitters for ten years as a registered guide. I guide archery, muzzle loader, and rifle hunters for just about any big game species in New Mexico. Guiding is my passion just as we’ll as hunting for myself. I just hope I can continue to do what I love for many years to come!

When I spend numerous days in the field I need gear that will hold up to just about anything. It’s never fun when gear breaks or falls apart while being in the wilderness!  I bought a Blacks Creek Canadian pack about five years ago and have been using it ever since. What can I say? If you want a pack that does everything I highly recommend a Blacks Creek bag. It is easy to keep organized, great for packing meat, rugged, and most important comfortable! I’m a tall person and it’s hard to find a pack that properly fits my back. I have yet to get any back pain while wearing this pack.
